Skate Ontario local winners

As part of its super series event, Skate Ontario played host to a recent competition in Sault Ste. Marie. And at that, 34 skaters represented the Sault-based, Lake Superior Figure Skating Club.

Results, as they pertain to the local club, are as follows.

• Kelsey Barss, Special Olympics, level one gold.

• Koli Gregory, star two gold.

• Kaitlyn Carbone, bronze star two free skate, bronze star 2 elements, bronze creative improve.

• Ellah Iozzo, silver star three free skate, gold star three elements, gold star four team elements, silver creative improve.

The local club’s director of skating, Kerry Bain, relayed the following message pertaining to the super series meet.

“Congratulations to all of our skaters. For some, scoring a personal best and earning a spot to qualify for the Skate Ontario provincial championships is a huge accomplishment.

“Thank you to our tireless volunteers for making another Lake Superior Figure Skating Club super series a successful event. Without their help, hard work and enthusiasm, this competition would not be as successful as it was.”

The provincial championships are slated to be held in Belleville in March.
