One of Sault Ste. Marie’s longest serving examples of excellence in customer service can be found in the IDA Pharmacy family of stores. As a long time customer myself, this writer can attest to the “go the extra mile” level of service you can expect at the IDA locations.

It is quite evident that one of the guiding principles of how they choose to do business is to make the shopping experience as easy as possible and to make customers feel at home.

From the knowledgeable and friendly pharmaceutical team, to the friendly, thoughtful service now provided by the newly added Sweet Greetings at the Market Mall location, to the outstanding excellence in customer service offered by all staff, customers are sure to be impressed and satisfied with their experience.

The company has a long standing history in Sault Ste. Marie and a look at the company’s history reveals that it started as an independent pharmacy in 1957 operating as Palumbo’s Pharmacy, founded by Joe Disano and Ron Disano. The hard working duo grew the local business for the next sixty plus years and there are now four locations.

What is truly remarkable and rewarding for the owners is that they have been able to gainfully employ hundreds of Sault residents over the years, sponsor thousands of youth and adult sports teams, donate to numerous charities and benefits because part of their philosophy is that community members are family and should be treated as such especially when the community has shown such great loyalty and patronage.

The four convenient locations are the Ideal IDA Drug Mart on Wellington Street East, Market Mall IDA Pharmacy on Second Line West, Wellington Square IDA on Trunk Road and the Station Mall IDA Drug Mart on Bay Street.

Visit any of the locations and you are sure to be pleasantly surprised by the shopping experience and unique, high quality products. It is not your typical drugstore that’s for sure!

You can find exceptional Aurora Italian products, beautiful home decor items, gift wear, beautiful handmade baskets with delicious homemade baked goods that can be delivered.

For the coffee lovers, you will be happy to know that the popular coffee bar at Sweet Greetings made the move to the Market Mall location.

The Station Mall location has added many grocery items in light of a shortage of grocery options in the downtown core which is has been a much appreciated addition for residents in the area.

It is also worth noting that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the team at IDA is going above and beyond to ensure people throughout Algoma region are getting what they need delivered right to their door with five drivers providing same day service even during this extremely busy time. These deliveries are not limited to just prescriptions and they will include other items they carry in their stores. Now that is dedication!

Delivery service is available all the way to St. Joseph Island, Gros Cap, Prince Township, airport area, the Pointes, Sunnyside, and as far north as Goulais River. Thank you IDA!

In addition, as of the first of April, all health care workers and first responders receive twenty five percent off at all locations simply by showing ID or employee badge at the till with some exclusions such as lottery tickets, gift cards, tobacco, prescriptions, and grocery items.

Now more than ever, it is so important to support local business especially ones that have been so good to the community such as IDA. If you aren’t a customer yet, please consider giving them a try for friendly, personalized service.
