PUC Services Inc. has released its 2019 sustainability report which highlights what is termed its “commitment to investing in sustainable growth, people and the communities (we) serve.”

The theme for this year’s report, called Investing in Our Communities, is designed to demonstrate the PUC’s commitment to having a long-term, positive impact in communities across Ontario.

The report describes company initiatives that contributed to the success of PUC’s group of companies in 2019.

In 2019, the PUC notes that it entered into new and innovative business opportunities, took a proactive approach to improving customer’s overall experience, and expanded its footprint to serve over 40 municipalities and 127 First Nation communities within Ontario.

“By embracing change and innovation, PUC is investing in the communities we serve for the long-term,” relayed Robert Brewer, who is the president and chief executive officer for, PUC Services Inc.

“On both the electrical and water side of the business, PUC continues to modernize infrastructure, innovate systems, and lead the industry in projects that will change the way we deliver utility services,” Brewer added.

Highlights of the report include:

• PUC re-invested $15.8 million in the communities they serve.

• PUC acquired Northern Waterworks Inc. (NWI), a leading water and wastewater services provider located in Red Lake, Ontario. This acquisition positions PUC’s group of companies as the second-largest service provider of water and wastewater operations in Ontario.

• PUC’s efforts to promote and deliver the province’s AffordAbility Fund saved a total of approximately $2.4 million for customers to dates and allocated approximately $5 million to local businesses.

• Major investments to enhance the customer experience in 2019 resulted in an exceptional customer satisfaction rating of 94 per cent, compared to 82 per cent in 2017.

“The growth of PUC began in 2019 and set the groundwork for continual improvement”, stated Jim Boniferro, who is the chair of PUC Services/PUC Inc.

“PUC’s group of companies are well positioned to face future challenges of affordability while developing partnerships in advanced technology to deliver reliable and sustainable products to our customers,” added Boniferro.
