Good and bad in all factions

I am writing this to offer my support for the good police officers who do their best to protect the citizens of our city.

As we know there are those people who think that our police department should be “de-funded” because of the actions of some police officers in other cities.

What I ask does that have to do with the chief of the Sault police force and the police officers of the Sault?

The way that I see it and please correct me if I am off base, but there are good and bad in any profession! So why pick on the police force???

Yes I am sure that as we have many good police officers that there are a few “bad apples” among the local police force.

However the same can be said about any profession and any essential service that we have don’t you think?

We have good nurses and let me tell you that I have been around some nurses who are rude.

We have good school teachers and we have some who do not care as much about their students as they do about getting a good pay check and lots of vacation time.

We have good politicians such as Mr. Sheehan and Mr. Romano and some of the members of City Council and then we have some politicians who are only in it for a pay check and a benefit plan. Just try and get them to do something when it is not an election year! Just try and get them to return a message! Good luck with that!

We have city workers who I am sure care about their job only to have some city workers who do not care for the property of home owners and business owners and who are protected by a union and who will never get fired for being lazy or not doing their job properly.

So why pick on police officers and ask that the police department be “de-funded” … there’s that word again!

No one is perfect so no one should be pointing a finger at any one else!

I for one support our local police force and the officers who work hard to the best of their ability to keep us safe!

What you think about “Good and bad in all factions”

  1. I feel that this is not a valid argument/statement.
Yes, most cops are dedicated, hardworking and deal with a lot of crap. It’s a tough, under appreciated job.
However, your examples and statement are not even close to a valid argument.
It’s like comparing apples to oranges.
Bad nurses/teachers/city workers can be lazy, not care, be rude.
A bad cop KILLS, beats, falsely arrests, imprisons innocent people and violates their rights.
“No one is perfect so no one should be pointing a finger at any one else!”
Forgive me, but THAT is the role of the police. Society has agreed upon things you can’t do. DUI, kill people, rob people.
If you do wrong, they point the finger at you, and you accept the consequences.
NOBODY is above the law, including the police. That is the whole point of this movement. People are “picking on the police”, because the very few bad ones, often ARE above the law.
This movement is the same as saying “Get rid of all the very few, very bad doctors who kill people, on purpose, and get away with it”.
    AND

“DEFUND” (I hate this term) really means to reduce the police budget by a small amount, and put that money into social services that will ultimately reduce the need for police. Not eliminate, reduce.
It doesn’t mean to NOT send the police on a ‘wellness check’, or a ‘disturbed person’. It means to give them the training, knowledge and support, to handle it better. They only have 3 months of training, and they have SOOOO much they need to know, deal with, be responsible for.
I too support the local police force, who does a great job.
I also support punishing bad cops/doctors/teachers/anyone who breaks the law and gets away with it.
