RIP, Carlos Arruda

This is a big loss.

It is a story of a great loss to our business community, a story of heartbreaking loss for our community in general, and a story of personal loss.

Just recently, I heard the heartbreaking news that my dear friend Carlos Arruda had passed away after putting up a brave fight after suffering complications from recent brain surgery.

I’ve known Carlos since I was a child and you could not ask for a more genuine good guy with a heart of gold and the best sense of humour.

We were proud members of the Sault’s west end community, who remain some of the best friends I still have today.

His smile would light up the room and you could always count on Carlos to tell you a funny story to brighten your day.

Carlos Arruda

As tributes have poured in, I am not alone in recognizing what an amazing man he was, a man who people wanted to be around, a proud father of four boys, a great husband, a son, a brother and the best kind of friend you could ask for.

He genuinely loved his work, his family, his friends and it showed.

I don’t think I can ever recall seeing Carlos without a smile. Even during tragic times like the sudden passing of his nephew just three short months ago, Carlos did his best to lift people’s spirits, especially his family.

His work family at Compass Imaging and Dumanski Office Interiors have paid great tribute to Carlos. And there is no doubt he will be missed by his work family and all of his clients over the years, having worked there for over 30 years.

His family has been overwhelmed with messages and acts of kindness from our community and businesses who showed and continue to show support for them.

Carlos made an impact and his legacy will live on in his sons, I have no doubt.

My life has been enriched by knowing you, Carlos.

Rest easy my friend, you will remain in my heart forever.
