Take a bow, people.

Sault Ringette Club saluted several individuals in a recent, end of season, virtual awards event.

For starters, Debbie Desgagne won the 2020-2021 Bill Claringbold Award, which is given to a Sault Ringette Club member who exemplifies leadership and contributes their time to assist the club and the coaches, taking on tasks whenever asked.

After the COVID-19 pandemic brought a sudden end to the 2019-2020 season in March of 2020, the local club was fortunate to begin the 2020-2021 season with practices adhering to cohort groupings. Later Sault Ringette was able to move to full five-on-five game play for most of the season.

Sault Ringette noted the guidance and efforts of its COVID-19 safety leader, Blythe Carota, along with executive board members, coaches, volunteers, parents, and players.

According to Sault Ringette, COVID-19 protocols were approved by Ringette Ontario, the sport’s governing body and put into place prior to the start of the season.

Overall, the Sault Ringette Club maintained viable numbers to support 11 house league teams between the under six to under 19 divisions, in addition to a pair of open 18-and-over teams.
