RBC donates via Algoma U
Royal Bank of Canada, along with Algoma University, have confirmed a $250,000 donation. The funds come from the RBC future launch to support the career link program at the Sault-based university.
The RBC future launch is set up as RBC’s commitment to help prepare Canadian youth for the jobs of tomorrow and today.
Scott Simon, who is the regional vice president for RBC, relayed some of what the future launch is about.
“RBC future launch is about being a catalyst for change by bringing educators, public sector and not-for-profits together to co-create solutions to help young people better prepare for the future of work,” said Simon.
“Career link brings critical components together into one program to help youth across all intersections of diversity prepare for the ambiguities and opportunities that may cross their path on their career journey,” Simon added.
And Dawn White, who is a program director at Algoma University, offered more on career link and future launch.
“Career link is an exciting option for students who wish to begin thinking about career preparedness early in their academic experience,” relayed White.
“Career link was developed in partnership with several organizations and has a unique emphasis on preparation for the northern Ontario labour market. RBC future launch funding provides the resources for Algoma University to run and enrich the program for years to come,” White summed up.
