Grocer 4 Good celebration
Located at 133 Gore St. in the Sault’s downtown area, Grocer 4 Good will hold an opening celebration on Friday, March 6 from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Sault Business Matters has confirmed.
A social enterprise, Grocer 4 Good is the brain-child of founder and president Lisa Vezeau-Allen.
Collaborative partner agencies of Grocer 4 Good include Ontario Disability Support Program, Ontario Works, March of Dimes and the Sault Community Career Center.
Vezeau-Allen, who is also a city councilor, commended those who have already assisted Grocer 4 Good in its start-up.
“This initiative could not have come to fruition without both the financial support and voluntary commitments from many in our community.
“On behalf of our board of directors, we want to recognize District Social Services Administrative Board and Michael Nadeau, Health Care Solutions and Marty Wilding, Sault PUC Services, Algoma Autism Foundation and Jesse, Jamie and Dan Boston, Program Read, Harvest Algoma, Ergo Office Plus and Paul Scornaienchi and team,” relayed Vezeau-Allen.
A few facts about Grocer 4 Good are as follows.
Mission: Grocer 4 Good Ability Development Program will provide employment opportunities for those persons with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, other intellectual disability or who have been chronically underemployed
Vision: Grocer 4 Good Ability Development Program will create widespread opportunities and community engagement outside of the employment opportunity for those persons with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disability or those chronically underemployed while giving back and providing much-needed access for affordable life essentials for those on fixed and low incomes.
Values: Grocer 4 Good Ability Development Program will instill the values that “we all have something to contribute to our community in a meaningful and rewarding way.”
