NORP via Ross Romano
Sault Business Matters has received the following press release from Sault member of provincial parliament Ross Romano relative to a Northern Ontario recovery program. An edited version of it appears below.
Today the Government of Ontario announced the creation of a new short-term Northern Ontario Recovery Program (NORP) to help businesses adapt to new COVID-19 public health guidelines and protect employees and customers.
We know that COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted businesses in Northern Ontario.
To provide relief, we’ve launched the Northern Ontario Recovery Program, (which is) designed to support Northern businesses as they adapt to public health guidelines,”said Ross Romano, MPP for Sault Ste. Marie.
“Throughout the pandemic, local businesses have continued to serve our community. If you qualify, I highly encourage you to apply on October 1st,” added Romano.
Companies can apply to NORP for assistance with projects that help them adjust to the impacts of COVID-19, such as, but not limited to:
• Building renovations and new constructions
• Customer and employee safety installations
• Equipment purchases, including personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Marketing for new business initiatives
• Restructuring of business operations
FROM THE SAULT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
“The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce is very pleased to support the Northern Ontario Recovery Program (NORP). Through many consultations with the Governments of Canada and Ontario, it was evident that many small businesses were unintendedly falling through the cracks of support programs for a variety of reasons.
“NORP will help address that issue by supporting the many businesses that are investing in ensuring a safe environment for their employees and customers so that we can have a safe today and healthy tomorrow,” said Rory Ring, president and chief executive officer of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce.
