Voters throughout Ontario, including Sault Ste. Marie, saw no reason to make change on the June 2 provincial election day.

Locally, Ross Romano of the governing Progressive Conservatives will return as the Sault’s member of provincial parliament as part of another majority government for Premier Doug Ford.

Romano counted 12,606 votes to out distance New Democratic Party candidate Michele McCleave-Kennedy and her 10,029 second place votes.

The PCs ended up with 83 seats compared to 31 for the NDP and only eight for the once vaunted Liberal Party.

Following the election, both NDP leader Andrea Horwath and Liberal leader Steven Del Duca announced that they were stepping down.
