Reggie & Randy at Reggie’s
Guess who we just saw at Reggie’s Place Tavern in the Sault’s downtown? None other than the iconic Reggie Daigle!
As Reggie’s Place Tavern has been operated by Randy Lapossie for a few years now, Reggie himself is back on the scene as a bartender at the downtown watering hole — and looking like his familiar self.
Now in semi-retirement and having turned the reins of Reggie’s over to Randy a few years back, the old guy opted at the invitation from Lapossie to return to his old bar in a working capacity, staring a few days ago.
Daigle celebrated 25 years in business as the owner of Reggie’s Place Tavern in June of 2015. The bar was previously known as the Central Hotel and it carried a bad reputation. Daigle re-named the bar Reggie’s Place Tavern — opening it on June 4, 1990 — and through hard work and determination, helped transform it into a gathering spot that eventually became popular with locals of all walks of life.
After a lengthy closure due to a fire, Lapossie took over operation of Reggie’s on September 1, 2020 and has since managed to keep it operational through the trials and tribulations of Covid. As for now having Reggie back behind the bar at Reggie’s, Randy could only smile and tell Sault Business Matters: “This is great. Everyone knows and loves Reggie.”
