Sault Ste. Marie’s Soup Kitchen Community Centre will be holding the third annual Tony Martin Walk for Change “Walk-a-Thon” on Saturday, June 7.

The Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre aims to provide services to encourage self-sufficiency and improve quality of life through reducing hunger and its effects. And further, to protect children and develop social skills through our two after-school children’s programs (Brighter Beginnings and Back to Basics).

Tony Martin is a founding father of the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre and a champion for the poor throughout his years in both federal and provincial politics. Participants will walk for change to raise awareness of so many struggling with food insecurity and homelessness and raise much needed funds to help us help others.

In 2024, the Tony Martin Memorial Walk for Change successfully raised $14,000.00 for food and programming. Rallied together, the city of Sault Ste. Marie shared their love and support for our organization; this year we hope to increase that amount fundraised to continue the work we do.

“Help us help others,” says Ron Sim, general manager of the Soup Kitchen Community Centre. “Walk, share, support. Give what you can and walk if you want.”

Your pledge package can be picked up at the Soup Kitchen, located at 172 James Street between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Pledge packages will be available starting April 28, 2025.
