Schools will stay out
Ontario premier Doug Ford has taken to the legendary lyrics of iconic rock star Alice Cooper: “Schools out for the summer.”
Ford confirmed today that Ontario schools will stay closed for the rest of the school year relative to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The no-nonsense premier said the safety of children is the top priority of the provincial government, while noting that at-home learning will continue for Ontario students.
Ford added that Ontario is working hard to ensure that child care centers can reopen once the province gets to its second stage of reopening.
Meanwhile, Ontario education minister Stephen Lecce said he will announce a plan for reopening schools in September before the end of June.
Ontario schools have been closed since March 13.
