Ross Romano, member of provincial parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, has confirmed an Ontario government boost for Soo Foundry and Machine Ltd. Via minister of energy, northern development and mines Greg Rickford, Romano today announced an investment of more than $114,000 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for a Soo Foundry expansion that will create two full time jobs.

The funds will allow Soo Foundry to purchase new capital equipment, expand operations and create partnerships with local business, noted Romano.

“Through this funding, we are creating jobs in the skilled trades and boosting the local Sault Ste. Marie economy. Congratulations, to Soo Foundry,” Romano relayed.

Soo Foundry president Robert Cohen noted that, “as a medium size manufacturing company, we have benefited immensely from the programs offered by the NOHFC.

“Financing provided by NOHFC has allowed us to grow, export, diversify, and add new capital equipment that we would not be able to finance through conventional methods,” added Cohen.
