NDP has its candidate
Community activist Sara McCleary, who also works as a freelance news writer for local publication Sault This Week, is poised to be acclaimed as the New Democratic Party candidate for Sault Ste. Marie ahead of the 2019 federal election.
McCleary confirmed her imminent nomination earlier today and said it will be made official when the local NDP holds a meeting on Wednesday of this week at 7 p.m. at the Tony Martin Community Hall on James St.
As the NDP candidate, McCleary will try to oust incumbent Sault Ste. Marie member of parliament Terry Sheehan, who represents the Liberal Party.
Sonny Spina has already been nominated as the Conservative Party candidate for the Sault ahead of the fall federal election.
