EDITOR’S NOTE: Sault Business Matters has received the following media release from Algoma University relative to its third annual Research Week.

Algoma University’s third annual Research Week will be taking place from Monday, March 20th, 2023 to Friday, March 31st, 2023. This year’s instalment will feature a range of activities including a presentation by Tri-Agency funders on EDI in Research, faculty lunch box talks, student-centred research panels, a workshop on research ethics and an in-person “Meet the Researchers” event at the University’s Sault Ste. Marie campus.

Lunch Box Talks (2 Sessions)

Dates/Times: Monday, March 20th, 2023 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM and Wednesday, March 29th, 2023 from 11:30 AM – 1 PM

Description: Each session offers a unique opportunity to learn about research at Algoma University and the surrounding community, and will highlight brief twenty-minute presentations followed by 5-minute Q & A sessions featuring topics in humanities, social sciences and sciences.

Meet the ResearchersDate/Time:  Wednesday, March 22nd from 11:30 AM – 1 PM.

Description: Guests are invited to get to know AU’s innovative researchers in person at the Arthur A. Wishart Library. Researchers are eager to connect live with the AU community, share their research expertise and discuss the projects they are currently working on.

Tri-Agency PresentationDate/Time: Friday, March 24th from 1:00 PM -3:00 PM

Description: The three Tri-Agencies – Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) – will offer a presentation entitled “Tri-Agency Measures to Support Indigenous Perspectives, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Research.”

Student Spotlight

Date/Time: Monday, March 27th from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM

Description: Join current Algoma University students from various programs as they discuss their research experiences and the research projects they are currently working on.

Research Ethics Presentation

Date/Time: Tuesday, March 28th from 1:15 PM-2:00 PM

Description: Join our Research Ethics Board Chair, Dr. Dwayne Keough who will present a brief overview of research ethics and its implications
