In a city that is still known for its pizza, Sault Ste. Marie was home to a distinctive, delectable eatery that was very popular in the 1970s and through into the 1980s.

Owned and operated by members of the Bertolo family, Peachy’s Pizza and Tavern was located on Bay St. in the Sault’s downtown area.

Besides 14 different varieties of pizza pies, it was also famous for being the only Sault establishment to sell quart bottles of beer, including Molson Canadian, Molson Export, Labatt Blue, Labatt 50, and Old Vienna.

Peachy’s also featured live entertainment with the venerable Ron McCool as a solo act on his honky-tonk piano.

See below for a Peachy’s menu from the early 1970s.
