Sault Ste. Marie police chief Hugh Stevenson, mayor Christian Provenzano and Catherine Horlock from the Medic Alert Foundation of Canada were among those who were on hand today as the Neighbourhood Resource Centre celebrated its five-year existence.

The fifth anniversary of the Neighbourhood Resource Centre featured a street party on Gore St. The centre, which is located on Gore St., strives to prevent and discourage crime in the neighbourhood.

From the police end of it, Chief Stevenson noted how the centre helps members of the community who are in an endangered state relate to law enforcement.

“I do fundamentally believe that the vulnerable people in our community look at the police service as friends and supporters … and as people who can help them,” Stevenson relayed.
