This has Sault Ste. Marie pride and stardom written all over it.

That is, Kingsville Brewing Company has confirmed a partnership with Canadian and world curling icons, the Team Jacobs rink from the Sault.

The other side of the Sault connection is 45-year old Marty Turco, who is a part owner of Kingsville Brewing and a former National Hockey League and Canadian Olympic standout goalie of many years who also backstopped the University of Michigan Wolverines to a pair of national championships.

Currently the number one ranked curling rink in the world, Team Jacobs — which includes Sault residents Brad Jacobs, E.J. Harnden and Ryan Harnden — previously won the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier before winning the gold medal in the 2014 Winter Olympics.

And going forward, Team Jacobs will now be sponsored by Kingsville Brewing. To that end, members of Team Jacobs will wear the Kingsville Brewing logo on their curling shirts during competition.

At present, Team Jacobs — which last year added Marc Kennedy to go with Brad Jacobs and the Harnden brothers — is in position to qualify for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Team Jacobs already has a prior relationship with Marty Turco and his wife, Kelly. Marty and Kelly annually host a VIP fundraiser for Team Jacobs at the Turcos home on Lake Superior in the Sault.

“Kingsville Brewing Company is thrilled to add Team Jacobs to the family. They are great champions, great people and great family men. They personify what Kingsville Brewery aims to accomplish on a daily basis … work hard, driven and a pursuit of perfection to their craft.

“Together we plan to do great things, we wish them the best, on and off the ice. Together we share the desire to be industry leaders and the dedication of making a difference in the community,” relayed Turco, who co-owns Kingsville Brewing with his cousin, Mark Muzzin.

Kingsville Brewing products are available all across Ontario at Beer Store, LCBO and restaurant-bar locations, including Mane St. Cafe in the Sault’s downtown.
