Old Steeler of NFC Fame
Better late than never. Brad Jourdin, who was a star wide receiver for the Sault Steelers during their debut championship season of 1972, will finally be inducted into the Northern Football Conference Hall of Fame.
Jourdin will be formally inducted into the NFC Hall of Fame during halftime of the Steelers home opener, which is slated for Saturday, June 10 at Rocky DiPietro Field. The 7:30 p.m. match will feature the Steelers playing host to their long-time arch-rival Sudbury Spartans.
Jourdin, who scored the first touchdown in Steeler history back in 1972, had a lengthy association with the team to the extent that he came out of retirement in the 1990s to play alongside his son, Travis.
Steelers president Jonathon Bujold told Sault Business Matters that Jourdin’s induction into the NFC Hall of Fame is long overdue.
“Over the past few years we have been asking our existing Hall of Famers for their input on who should be inducted next and Brad was a constant name that was brought up,” noted Bujold. “His induction is long overdue and we are excited to celebrate his contributions to the Steeler organization on June the 10th.”
