‘Grow the Sault’ public meetings

This is your chance to help grow Sault Ste. Marie via a series of publication information meetings on November 14, 15 and 16.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie presents ‘Grow the Sault’, a strategic initiative aimed at ensuring the City’s growth takes place in a sustainable and thriving manner. This project includes a comprehensive set of strategies designed to elevate the community’s quality of life while addressing the ever-evolving needs of the City. The ‘Grow the Sault’ initiative comprises of the following components:

  • Housing Affordability: Focusing on enhancing housing affordability and housing supply growth.
  • Strategic Growth Nodes: Directing growth towards strategic and well-suited areas throughout the city.
  • Gentle Density: Streamlining the approvals process and reducing barriers to residential development.
  • Parking Reform: Reducing parking requirements to unlock new development opportunities.
  • Active Transportation: Enhancing the transportation network to accommodate all road users, including pedestrian and cyclists.

Peter Tonazzo, who is the City of Sault Ste. Marie’s Director of Planning, underscores the importance of the ‘Grow the Sault’ initiative.

“As a thriving, growing community, we face new challenges and opportunities. The City of Sault Ste. Marie is working to unveil a vision that ensures our community continues to thrive in a fiscally and environmentally sustainable manner.”

Residents are invited to take part in upcoming information sessions. This is an opportunity to actively engage, share ideas and provide valuable feedback on the ‘Grow the Sault’ initiative.

Residents are encouraged to attend one of the three public come and go information sessions:
