Reform Chiropractic + Wellness

Every now and then, I get to write a feature story that I am really looking forward to and this is one of those times.  I have been a patient of the multi-faceted  Dr. Michelle Fabbro, owner and founder of Reform Chiropractic + Wellness, for quite a while now.

I can honestly say that she is truly passionate about all things wellness and I never feel that her treatment plans are cookie cutter. They are always carefully tailored to how my body is feeling. She is thoughtful, dedicated and takes the time to listen to her patients to customize the treatment plan to provide what the body is needing and not just repeating the same treatment over and over again.  She also gives great suggestions to give you the tools to help you improve your mobility and quality of life.

Reform Chiropractic + Wellness is located at 600 Wellington Street East in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.  The multidisciplinary wellness clinic operates  out of a historic home that is full of character  in the Sault Ste. Marie downtown district. The clinic offers many services including:

  • chiropractic services
  • massage therapy
  • pilates rehabilitation
  • acupuncture
  • holistic nutrition

The team at Reform Chiropractic + Wellness works to treat every individual with a unique approach that is designed specifically for them. Michelle explains that the concept behind the name “Reform” is that they not only help to reduce the pain a patient presents with, but they want to help people build and reform their bodies and daily habits to serve them better. You can think of this process in three main steps:

Reduce pain. Release muscle strength and joint tension. Reform strength/health.

A patient centred treatment plan is always a priority for the team at Reform.  In addition to Dr. Fabbro’s numerous services,  you can also take advantage of massage therapy services by RMT Erin Levdonskis and holistic nutrition services by Hannah Saville who is a certified nutritional practitioner and hormone health coach. I decided to change things up for this feature and give our readers a chance to get to know Michelle a little better. I asked her who she considered her hero to be and here is what she had to say.  “My Nono (Nilo), has always been my hero. He grew up in the west end of Sault Ste. Marie after his mom immigrated from Italy. He helped her to run the tenant house and worked from a young age. He then put himself through dental school and began his own dental practice. His perseverance is something that I have always looked up to and respected.  He is a role model to me, and I am proud to follow in his footsteps running my own practice years later.”

Michelle goes on to say that the favourite thing about her career is patient education. She loves that she is able to diagnose, treat and educate patients on their pain and why they have it. It allows her to empower her patients to take part in their healing journey.  I also then was curious what she would say her proudest accomplishment is and her answer really moved me and I am sure it will please all the animal lovers out there.

She explained: “My proudest accomplishment is raising my dog Cash. When I adopted my dog from Northern Critters in Need, he had a seizure that evening. I spent the night at the emergency vet. No tests came back positive, and he was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. He has a severe form of epilepsy and requires a mixture of medication at 6:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. daily. I am proud that I have been able to own my own business and bring my dog to work and provide his medical care. He is my pride and joy, and he is very loved by myself, my family and now my patients.”

Cash is so sweet and is definitely well loved by both Michelle and team as well as the patients.  He even has his own little parlour where he likes to rest and keep the team company. When I inquired about what she wanted to be when she was young, perhaps not surprisingly, she wanted to be a dentist.  She went on to say that “Both my dad and Nono are dentists and I always looked up to them growing up. I realized when I was in university that I personally had a passion for health, wellness, and fitness. This led me to exploring the avenue of both chiropractic and physiotherapy, eventually choosing the Chiropractic profession.”

So what if she could choose a different career, what would it be?  Michelle explained that she would be a Nutritionist/Chef. She loves to cook and explore new recipes! One of her favourite things to do on the weekend is cook for her friends and family.    If she could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, it would be Vegan Carbonara. She recently became plant based. and one of her favourite dishes she has made so far is vegan carbonara. It subs tofu bits  for bacon and is sooo delicious!  I may have to steal the recipe and give it a try because I too love to cook as many know!
