Paint & Decor & much more
I had a chance to stop by Paint & Decor Concepts, located at 826 Queen Street East, on a recent snowy Saturday and it was so nice to see a couple of groups of people learning the basics of painting ceramics and pottery under the watchful and helpful eyes of friendly staff.
The two groups seemed to be having so much fun and it was nice to see the wide range of ages taking part!
You see, Paint & Decor concepts is not just “that paint store” anymore, far from it! It has become a place to gather and something that the very creative and hard working owner Amelia Ritchie has been steadily working on with great passion for the last couple of years. The number of offerings now carried at this location is truly astounding and you really must come see for yourself!
Although Amelia and her team are still helping clients bring their clients’ vision to life when it comes to home decor, paint selection, event planning and decorating as they have been for the past ten years, she has more recently added a pottery studio component. This addition includes a cafe and fully licenced bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options to help make your experience a memorable and enjoyable one.
The warm and inviting space is brightly lit and it is the perfect spot to make a lasting memory with a friend, co-worker, loved one, child. You simply can stop by, choose from a wide selection of ready to paint ceramic pottery pieces available in earth-ware or stoneware and staff will help to get you started!
Her knowledgeable and friendly staff are around to guide you and answer any questions you may have. While you are there, you can enjoy a coffee or drink of your choice from their cafe/bar area and there are plenty of great snack options as well that are carefully selected to be easy to munch on while you work on your piece. A wide variety of gourmet popcorn , chocolates, artisanal toffee treats, nuts, Vesper Craft cocktail infusions and more are available to purchase!
If you are looking for unique gift gifting ideas, stop by to see what they have! Stay tuned to their social media for even more exciting offerings to come in the cafe. You can also shop from her lovely selection of primarily Canadian female-owned offerings and gift items even if not taking part in the pottery experience. The cafe and bar is open to all, not just those doing some painting or pottery and it is a great spot to get some work done.
Amelia and team invite you to go in and create a special experience that you will always remember every time you look at the piece you take home. The team will even help you glaze and fire your piece in-house for a true authentic experience!
You can also learn to play with clay using hand building which allows for the creation of various forms without using a throwing wheel by using only your hands and a few tools. If you do want to experience the magic of wheel throwing (who else immediately thinks of THAT scene from Ghost with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore?), you can do that too since they offer beginner to experienced sessions and courses in their very welcoming space.
For the more experienced potters, you can get a membership and book wheel rental times. For the latest offerings and classes, visit their website at www.paintanddecorstudios.com where you can find upcoming events, classes and workshops and book directly from the site.
Team building, girls’ night out, birthday parties, bachelorette bonding time and more; make it memorable by booking a private event at Paint & Decor Studio complete with food and beverage options available.
For more information, be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram, and visit their site at www.paintanddecorstudios.com for booking details, pricing etc but better yet, stop by in person, they would love to see you! They can also be reached at 705-575-4806. Drop in pottery painting is available anytime the store is open, as is the licenced cafe so what are you waiting for?
