Feeding Your Soul
I recently had a chance to revisit Feeding Your Soul Café, located at 96 White Oak Drive East, to gain a little inspiration to write this story. This quaint gem was bustling with people enjoying their meals in a cozy set up that reminded me of a northern cabin. There is no mistaking that this is a very popular place for good reason.

The food and service was outstanding and it sure has become quite popular among locals and visitors alike because of its diverse and health-conscious menu. It is one of the few places that can truly accommodate those with food allergies and/or dietary restrictions or dietary lifestyle choices.
The café offers a variety of options, including gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan-friendly dishes, ensuring that there is something for everyone. Everything is made fresh from scratch and owner Mary Greenwood makes a concerted effort to source ingredients locally as much as she can and the Cafe even has a little garden on site that they use for their culinary creations when weather permits of course!
I was also impressed with their commitment to supporting local artists by displaying their artwork and photography on the walls of the cafe. They also support other local businesses and carry some specially curated local products if looking for gifts or just need to stock up yourself!
The cafe offers breakfast and lunch dine-in, takeout, delivery, and off-site catering services. In 2017, Mary decided to bring back the idea of a good home cooked meal to the restaurant scene. The inspiration for the name came from the realization that because of so many people with dietary restrictions, allergies, intolerances, or simply lifestyle differences, she wanted to create a cafe that could not only feed people’s hunger but could also bring people of all walks of life to gather and in essence, feed the soul too. Food is meant to nourish both body and spirit … feed the soul! It is through a culture of community that successful cafes and diners thrive and to me, that is exactly what the Cafe brought to mind during my visit.

The café has a very inviting atmosphere, with an outdoor space that enhances the dining experience during warmer months. As mentioned, it is also known for its commitment to accommodating dietary restrictions, including using dedicated toasters for gluten-free breads.
In addition to their regular menu that can be viewed in full on their website, Feeding Your Soul Café offers daily specials and a variety of amazing desserts made in-house, including gluten-free options. Be sure to follow them on Facebook or Instagram to see their daily features and any other news they have! By the way, they also make fantastic charcuterie boards if you need any for special occasions or events.
They cater events on site or offsite so please keep them in mind for your next event! While speaking to owner Mary, she has said they have even catered weddings off site (one had 150 people!) and love to host showers, wedding rehearsal dinners, baptisms, corporate dinners and more!
Have an event? Reach out to Feeding Your Soul Cafe to have them look after feeding the crowd! For those on the go, ready-to-eat meals and frozen options are available for individuals or families. Some of the frozen items include your favourite comfort foods like turkey pot pie, mini pot pies, shepherds pie, mac and cheese, pierogi casserole, homemade chicken broth, lasagna, cabbage rolls and more!!
