Football at Sault College

The Canadian Jr. Football League is officially coming to Sault Ste. Marie. Sault College Cougars are a new entry to the venerable CJFL and one of seven teams in the league’s Ontario Conference.

Along with the other six Ontario teams, Sault College will play an eight game regular season schedule — four at home and four on the road. After kicking off its CJFL debut season with three straight road games, Sault College will then play at home on three successive weekends.

The three straight home games for the Cougars of Sault College will be on Saturday, August 23 against the Hamilton Hurricanes, Saturday, September 6 with the London Beefeaters in town, and on Saturday, September 13 versus the perennial powerhouse St. Clair College Saints of Windsor. Sault College will then close out the 2025 regular season with a home game against the Quinte Skyhawks on Saturday, October 1.

All Sault College home games are scheduled as 1 p.m. starts at Rocky DiPietro Field.

Sault College head coach Paul Orazietti has gone out and recruited 70 plus players for the Cougars debut season in the CJFL. They are from all around Ontario and across Canada.

Some of the homegrown Sault Ste. Marie products who are on the Sault College roster include quarterback Matti Tucker, running back Ronan Provenzano, wide receiver Jaidan Trudeau, offensive lineman Matteo Torresan, defensive back Cole Arruda and defensive end Ethan Arruda.

The Cougars will feature a 14 person coaching staff led by the aforementioned Paul Orazietti that also includes associate head coach Matt Premo and a number of individuals with current and past links to the Sault Steelers as players and coaches.
