This is one for the books. Actually, eight in total. Steve Mezzomo, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., has now authored eight books — and says he has hit the top of the Amazon charts with four of them.

The 52-year-old Mezzomo first left the Sault in 1997 after completing his robotics degree at Lake Superior State University in the Michigan Sault and subsequently accepting a job at Fanuc Robotics of North America in the Detroit suburb of Rochester Hills.

The eight books that Mezzomo has written comprise two series. The first series is called Castle Hills Fall, and the second is Against All Odds.

According to the Sault born author, his books have been well received.

“All of my books can be purchased or borrowed on Amazon. Over 18,000 of my books have been bought or borrowed in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and many other countries,” Mezzomo began in an interview with Sault Business Matters.

“The theme of (his latest book) is Disaster Fiction, where people fight for survival after an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) from a nuclear missile detonated at high altitude, disabling all electronics, vehicles, and anything with a computer chip. This is a real weapon and could be used against the United States. According to the Department of Defense/War, if such a weapon were used, over 90 percent of the population would be dead within a year,” relayed Mezzomo.

As for what led him to become a writer, Mezzomo said he was “inspired to write after reading a lot of disaster fiction and apocalypse novels during the global pandemic. I had an idea and pitched it to a local publishing company in Michigan called Raventhorne Books.

“After two meetings, the publishers told me to write three chapters, and after I submitted them, I was told to continue, which turned out to be my first book, Castle Hills Fall, the first of a seven-part series,” he continued.

Mezzomo said he has hosted number of book signings and has done two podcasts with Lisa Parlow Tucker, a local radio station voice, in Sault Ste. Marie. https://theborderline.ca/stephen-mezzomo-castle-hills-fall-3-4/,

“That is what will give anyone interested in my publications a view into my personality, writing, and types of books that I author,” Mezzomo further relayed to Sault This Week.

A graduate of St. Bernadette elementary school and St. Mary’s College secondary school in the Sault, Mezzomo is understandably proud of his work as a writer.

“I have over 3,000 ratings and reviews, which range from 4.5 to 4.8. And four of my books have hit No. 1 Amazon in Disaster Fiction,” he noted.
