Cocktail — and yes, even mocktail — lovers can rejoice. That is, the long awaited opening of Wisp Lounge has arrived. Saturday, December 28 marked the official opening of Wisp Lounge.

Wisp Lounge is a second venture founded by Melissa Thompson who also brought us the popular Scottish Pub, The Whisky Barrel, which is located on Gore Street.

I had a chance to preview Wisp just before it opened officially and it is quite the transformation of the cozy space, formerly occupied by Stork & Bundle at 715 Queen Street East in the Sault’s downtown.

A true classy cocktail lounge, the team behind Wisp have created an experience with an impressive selection of creative and thoughtfully selected cocktails as well as mocktails so that even those choosing not to drink alcohol can still have a tasty drink option.

A unique feature of Wisp is the build your own charcuterie boards they offer. There are lots of interesting options that you get to select yourself and these are not the average selections seen elsewhere.

The decor is modern, yet cozy and will surely appeal to many looking for something classy yet comfortable. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and can help you decide from the many fantastic options.

Inspired by the allure of folklore and the mysterious charm of fantasy, Wisp Lounge has come to life. The name itself evokes images of enchanting evenings and whispers of the extraordinary, setting the tone for a space that is both magical and inviting.

Interestingly enough, owner Melissa also mentioned there had been tentative plans to try and perhaps open an outdoor designated cigar lounge area where undoubtedly there would have been “wisps” of smoke but these plans for the cigar area ended up being abandoned due to the regulations involved.

“Wisp” can also be tied to the fact that they also offer “smoked” meats and cheeses as charcuterie options and several of the cocktails are also smoked. You can also find specially curated wines, beers, ciders, and even some desserts on the menu.

Hours of operation are Sunday to Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, Friday and  Saturday from 5:00 pm to 1:00 a.m. (They will be closed on New Year’s Day.)
