We asked owner Tony Spina what inspired him to open Around the Corner Cantina and he had this to say “ I’ve always had a passion for cooking. Food has been something I’ve loved for as long as I can remember, and it’s where I feel most at home. Opening Around The Corner Cantina gave me the opportunity to turn that passion into something I could share with the community. Another major inspiration was my family. I wanted to build something meaningful that could become a legacy for my children—something they could be proud of and potentially be part of for years to come.” Tony and his wife Susie Nielson Spina operate the business with some help from their three children Ciara, Sydney and Mia, making it truly a family labour of love.
We also asked Tony what his favourite part of this venture has been so far and he told us that by far his favourite part of this journey has been working alongside his wife and children every day. Being able to build a family business together has been incredibly rewarding. Watching the restaurant grow, seeing customers enjoy their food, and seeing all the hard work turn into something successful has made every challenge worthwhile.
They recently obtained their liquor licence and proudly serve Northern Superior Brewery beer on tap and have lots of other great beverage options to enjoy with your delicious food! Hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday from 12-8 p.m., Thursday to Saturday from 12-10 p.m., Sunday from 12-9 p.m. and closed on Mondays. They offer dine in, takeout, and delivery is available through Skip the Dishes,Uber Eats and A-ok Deliveries.
